Product Breakdown:

1. Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) - This vitamin has been found to function as an amino acid transport, antibody formation and helpful as a phosphorus balance in the body. This material is used in Natural Lean to help with the proper pH balance for assimilation.

2. Iodine - This is helpful in maintaining and regulating cell oxidation. This helps control the rate at which oxygen is released and used at the cellular level.

4. Garcinia Cambogia - This is the primary raw material that many other products on the market use as an extract. Natural Lean uses the whole natural material. Garcinia Cambogia is a rare fruit grown in the remote jungles of Asia. This fruit produces an extract rich in hydroxycitric acid (HCA). When foods are eaten, carbohydrates are digested and broken down into glucose, the special blood sugar the body uses for energy. Glucose molecules that are not immediately used for energy are stored in the body's liver and muscles as glycogen. When glycogen stores become full, excess molecules of glucose are converted into fat and cholesterol by an enzyme called ATP-citrate lyase. Garcinia Cambogia works by providing HCA, which temporarily inhibits this enzyme. Citrus aurantium - Better known as the Seville orange, Citrus aurantium, a bitter orange has long been used both as a food - for instance, marmalade - and in China, North America and Europe for its health benefits. All products using extracts from Citrus aurantium contain up to 0.8% of the alkaloid properties. Natural Lean contains from 3-5% of these same alkaloids. The "adrenergic" alkaloids composing citrus aurantium in Natural Lean have similar effects on metabolism and on the breakdown of fat. In other words, they increase both the metabolic rate and the rate at which stored fat (lipolysis) is broken down in the body. But while they are equally effective in stimulating thermogenesis, these alkaloids are far gentler and do not cause the side effects common in the ephedrine alkaloids.

Results from an ongoing study at McGill University in Montreal, as well as feedback from users under "field" conditions, indicate that taking citrus aurantium alkaloids - at usual levels - causes little or no stimulation of the central nervous system. In contrast, those who take Ma-huang often experience a "buzz", which simply means that some of the alkaloids go to the brain instead of to the muscles and adipose tissue. Hence, the stimulation or "buzz" is of little value. So far, volunteers in the McGill University study who took a product based on aurantium alkaloids exhibited excellent increases in thermogenesis, however, they showed no increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure or central nervous system stimulation. A recent independent clinical study also reported excellent weight loss results from a product containing citrus auraqntium, with no apparent side effects.

Therefore, while the citrus aurantium alkaloids appear to be as thermogenic as those in Ma-huang, they are clearly gentler than those of ephedrine alkaloids and do not cause the side effects (nervousness, agitation, palpitations and increases in blood pressure) associated with the use of Ma-huang. It is believed that the absence of side effects and the mild characteristics in citrus aurantium alkaloids results because they do not readily pass into the brain and because they may more specifically target fat cells.

Thermogenic substance are widely distributed in unprocessed foods, and the synephrine group of alkaloids that characterize Natural Lean can indeed be found in low levels in many plants.
